Delaney Campaign Announces First Quarter Fundraising Numbers, Campaign Team

“I look forward to bringing my message of common sense leadership across the district.”

In the two months following the launch of her campaign for Congress, April McClain Delaney has surpassed goals and raised more than $530,000 in contributions from individuals committed to the future of Maryland’s 6th Congressional District. None of the funds raised were contributed by the candidate. This strong start to April’s fundraising, which is continuing at a similar pace into the first quarter, shows that she has the profile, leadership, and most importantly the experience needed to win Maryland’s most competitive Congressional District — MD-6.

“I look forward to bringing my message of common sense leadership to the district, and working toward pragmatic solutions which address the challenges facing Marylanders,” April McClain Delaney said. “I am so grateful for the overwhelming support my campaign has received since we launched in late October. We’ve brought together a group of experienced Maryland professionals to ensure that this state’s most competitive district stays in Democratic hands. With strong supporters and a dedicated team, I look forward to continuing to connect with voters and to winning this race in the months ahead.”

Her campaign is also taking this opportunity to announce the team:

Media:

SKDK will lead paid media efforts with a team consisting of:

Bill Knapp, Founding Partner, is a veteran political strategist and ad maker. He has served as a senior media strategist to six U.S. presidential campaigns and several dozen congressional, gubernatorial and mayoral races, including Maryland’s own former Congressman John Delaney.

Bill was the leader of the Clinton-Gore and DNC creative teams in 1996 and was a member of the media team for President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. Bill recently served as the lead strategist and ad maker for Independence USA Super PAC, which produced hundreds of commercials across 30 congressional races in both the 2018 midterms, and 2020 presidential election.

Greta Feldman, Senior Vice President, specializes in advertising and production for political, non-profit and for-profit clients. Her political work includes federal and state campaigns, IE work, and successful ballot initiatives, including for Representative John Delaney, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Independent Expenditure, Senate Majority PAC, the NAACP’s voter empowerment program, and most recently, Wes Moore’s successful Maryland gubernatorial election.

Maxwell Nunes, Head of Digital, is a seasoned political and digital strategist and now leads SKDK’s award-winning paid digital team. Over the course of his career he’s led efforts for causes, companies, and political campaigns, including roles at Google, Airbnb, and on Hillary for America and Terry for Virginia. He notably served as the Paid Media Director for Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 presidential campaign, and later co-founded a media firm specializing in digital-first creative before joining SKDK.

Polling:

Frederick Yang from Hart Research Associates will conduct the polling for the Delaney campaign. He was former Congressman John Delaney’s pollster from 2012-2018, and is currently the pollster for a dozen members of the U.S. Congress, and counts several Maryland leaders as his current clients, such as Governor Wes Moore, Attorney General Anthony Brown, State Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Congressman Kweisi Mfume, and Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen.

Fundraising:

Jennifer Frost began her career with Senator Ted Kennedy’s 2000 re-election campaign. She then spent two cycles at the DCCC where she raised both PAC and national money under Chairman Patrick Kennedy and Chairwoman Nita Lowey. Jennifer founded The Frost Group in 2003 and has grown her firm into a multi-talented national fundraising team. She has served as a consultant to nine U.S. Senate campaigns, over seventy U.S. House campaigns, and numerous PACs and non-profits.

Campaign Manager:

Isaac Rappoport joins April McClain Delaney’s team from the DGA, where he was the Political Services Director, Digital. He built their digital campaign services program from the ground up, working with dozens of campaigns. Isaac was on the team that flipped the governors’ offices in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Arizona, while defending Democratic incumbents in Kentucky, Kansas, and many other states. Isaac previously worked on four U.S. Senate races.

Outreach and Communications:

Susan Kenedy joins the Delaney team after more than three decades as a government communications professional. Her early career as a television reporter provided her with a solid foundation in connecting with people from all walks of life. Susan’s unique blend of journalistic acumen and government communication expertise allows her to bridge the gap between media professionals and leaders, ensuring effective and impactful communication strategies.

More about April:

As the mother of four daughters, April is committed to ensuring they have the same reproductive freedoms she enjoyed and believes compromise on this issue is not an option. As a former nonprofit advocate at Common Sense Media, she fought to protect children’s privacy and address Big Tech’s impact on their safety. While serving in the Biden Administration, April focused on expanding broadband access, understanding the needs of both suburban and rural areas in the district. Married to former congressman John Delaney for over 30 years, her practical approach is shaped by insights gained on his campaign trail where she had the opportunity to learn first hand about the rich diversity of the district.

Building on her life experiences, April believes in addressing politics pragmatically. Not with politics front and center, but with a focus on effectuating policies that make life better for people. She believes leaders need to embrace common sense and common ground by reaching across the aisle. That headway must be made on clean energy, the high cost of living, immigration, crime, and other issues where we can find a way forward with people willing to put progress ahead of politics.
