POLLING: April McClain Delaney Holds Commanding 12-Point Lead Over David Trone in MD-06 Primary
GAITHERSBURG, MD — A new survey conducted by Hart Research Associates shows Congresswoman April McClain Delaney maintaining a dominant 49% to 37% lead over David Trone in the Democratic primary for Maryland’s 6th District. Despite Trone’s massive early spending on television advertising, McClain Delaney’s 12-point advantage remains firm, with the Congresswoman leading across every geographic and demographic group.
The poll reveals that both candidates share a high name recognition, yet Delaney remains the clear choice for voters. Notably, among the 80% of the electorate who view both candidates positively, Delaney still leads by 13 points, suggesting that Trone’s heavy spending has failed to shift the race.
“This poll confirms that voters value April’s record of delivering results over David Trone’s attempt to buy back a seat he previously walked away from,” said campaign manager Nick London. “The data shows a clear pattern: the more voters see of both candidates, the more they trust April’s vision for Maryland.”
The survey comes as the Trone campaign promotes a highly questionable poll of just 154 respondents with a dubious methodology. This tactic points to a broader, more troubling pattern that David Trone believes his vast personal wealth allows him to operate without the usual scrutiny or accountability. David Trone has a long history of using his resources in unethical ways, including his staffers attempting to infiltrate Jamie Raskin’s campaign in 2016 or Trone donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to far-right Republicans to “buy access”.
